Aung Kyaw Htet was born in Myaungmya, Burma in 1965. He studied at the Yangon (Rangoon) School of Fine Arts after working on a riverboat for years in order to save enough money for his art education. Aung Kyaw Htet is a devout Buddhist and often paints scenes involving religious life in Burma, as well as paintings of general life that possess a strong sense of harmony and balance. His work is now extensively shown at the Thavibu Gallery in Bangkok and River Gallery in Yangon. He has become one of Myanmar’s most successful artists.
